Why Should I stain my exterior wood?

Allowing exposed wood to weather and decay is an eyesore, it's costly to replace and an embarrassment to the neighborhood.  For only a few cents per square foot, you can extend the life and enhance the natural wood beauty of any type of porous wood.  Extending the life of exposed wood saves money and protects our environment by SAVING ANOTHER TREE.

Why should I use an oil based semi-transparent stain vs. a latex based non-penetrating film forming stain?

Oil based semi-transparent stains for wood protect the wood surface from sunlight and moisture.  Because these stains are formulated to penetrate deep into the wood surface replenishing oils that have been lost due to exposure to weathering elements while still allowing the wood to breathe, they are not prone to crack or peel opposed to the non-penetrating film forming finishes.  Even if the coating is resistant to sunlight, the clear film permits the sunlight to degrade the wood at the coating-wood interface causing loss of coating adhesion.  Under such conditions, these finishes crack and peel from the wood surface after 1 or 2 years and require extensive surface preparation before it can be refinished.

What is Ready Seal?

Ready Seal is a semi-transparent sealer and stain in one. It is a unique blend of resins, pigment, oils and fungicide that penetrates deeply into wood to protect and preserve it from the elements.

What colors are available?

Our product comes in seven colors: Gold, Light Brown, Medium Brown, Medium Red, Dark Brown, Dark Red, and Natural Cedar.

What types of wood can your product be used on?

Our product can be used on all types of wood. There is another formula called "Redwood Only" made for use on redwood. It is also recommended for mahogany and furniture.

Does your product contain UV Protection?

The pigment is the UV protection. All Ready Seal colors contain transoxide pigments except the Gold. Transoxide pigments contain small pieces of metal that refract the sun. The Gold contains a clay pigment which does give some UV protection but not as much as the other colors. The darker the color the more UV protection you will have.

Does your product contain any toxic chemicals?

Our product is environmentally safe and has NO ozone depleting chemicals.  Long lasting water repellence is due to the heavy concentration of paraffinic oils and its unique specially blended deep penetrating resins.  Most wood sealers on the market today contain inexpensive fillers such as mineral spirits that evaporate into the atmosphere and pollute the air.  Our product contains only paraffinic oil that penetrates the wood and waterproofs.

How much drying time is needed before it can be rained on?

It can be rained on 2 hours after it is applied.

Why does the product stop beading water?

After the product has completely soaked in, the beading will stop. This does not mean that it has stopped performing. Ready Seal is made to spread water out so it will dry up as quickly as possible. It is still keeping water out even though it is not beading water.

What forms of payment do you accept?
